Review: Sabriel

Sabriel - Garth Nix

Nice quick easy read. I read it in about 24 hours i believe.

Unfortunately the book didnt quite live up to my expectations.

The world was interesting and the characters sympathetic but I've recently read about some incredible worlds that i can almost feel myself, and characters who jump pff the pages to become friends, imaginary friends, but friends all the same. plus Sabriel had a habit of getting on my nerves (mainly at the start) and there where a couple of error's which pulled me completely from the story. really this book had little chance from the start compared to the books I've recently been reading.

All that in mind I still enjoyed the experience - so obviously its a good book in-spite of my aggressive nitpicking.

The dead and necromancy where well though out and the bells an original and complex way to fight, which i enjoyed learning about. though i did have some doubt when they where first mentioned, now i appreciate them. they made the story ore interesting.

I loved the take on zombies in this magical and non-magical world. and Moggot was fantastic.

Im looking forward to reading the other books in this series. The change of POV should create some rather unique obstacles.
